Apples! Apples! Apples!

What is on the inside of an apple?

What is our favorite kind of apple?

And our Big Question followed by a science observation?

 Do Apples Float?

We had lots of fun with apples in October!  We had multiple taste tests.  Red was the most popular!

We also examined the parts of an apple:  skin, seeds, core, flesh.

And last, but certainly not least: do apples float?

We talked about what is floating, what things do we know that float and what do we know that sinks?

We also talked about taking a good guess, an educated guess.  We talked about how awesome science is and that asking questions and making guesses (predictions) is how scientists learn, even if they are wrong.  We can learn as much from our wrong answers as we can from the right ones!

The students were split as to their guesses would it float or sink.  Then we dropped our apple boats into our tub of water!  It was magical.  They had a great time.  We then tested skin and seeds.  !

It was so much fun!  Everyone loved this lesson! Ask them about it!

And, yes Apples do float, skins float and seeds sink!!!
